Rabbit Needs the basics
« on: June 04, 2014, 06:08:33 pm »

Rabbits need water all the time.
Don't over feed a rabbit but they can have all the hay they want.
Lactating does and growing kits and juniors get free choice of feed.
Cages should have a metal wire floors (1/2 inch x 1 inch)  that allows droppings and urine to go through and keep the floor clean.
Separate males and females at weaning.
Rabbits should have their own cage once they are 6-8 months of age.
Always quarantine a sick rabbit.
Always quarantine a new rabbit brought from somewhere else for 4 weeks.
Check their teeth and trim their toe nails.
Don't let kits stay in wet nest box if mom urinates on them...change the nesting material and put the kits back with mother.
Keep barking dogs and other noisy animals away from rabbits.
Keep strangers(people) away from rabbits.

If your rabbit is a show rabbit then it should like being around people.
